About the event
The building at 14–16 Selmeci Street in Budapest was built in 1926 as the Somogyi Béla Workers’ Home. Its simple massing and restrained appearance reflect the architectural approach of workers’ homes between the two world wars, with an emphasis on functionality and community spaces. Originally, it served as a cultural and educational center, then from 1939 it operated as a cinema under the name Ősbuda, later Óbuda. Since 1991, it has been used by the Budapest Festival Orchestra as a rehearsal space and concert venue.
