It has been ten years since Iván Fischer gave his last in-depth, personal interview to a Hungarian online outlet. HVG’s journalist accompanied the orchestra on a tour and spoke with the BFO’s music director on the plane.
Iván Fischer shares his thoughts about the orchestra and public life. This is how he sees the impact of the BFO’s international successes, for example: “If you have a Dutch, German or French member of the audience, who spends an hour or an hour and a half listening to this Hungarian orchestra as it transmits strong emotions, the person will come to love the music they are hearing, and they will certainly go home with a much higher appreciation of Hungary than was the case before the concert.”

Adél Tossenberger, the journalist interviewing Iván Fischer, was subsequently invited to join the BFO as a staff member: she has worked as the orchestra’s PR manager ever since. After all, every story is actually several stories in one.
