Károly Kaszás

double bass

Born in 1968 in Dunaújváros, he started to learn the violin at the age of four. He was pupil of the musical elementary school of his native town, then he was admitted to the musical secondary school of Pécs: it was here that he changed to the doublebass. In 1988 he won third prize at the International Doublebass Competition of Debrecen. In 1990 he was admitted to the prestigious Franz Liszt Music Academy of Budapest, where he learned with Aladár Pege. Still student of the Academy, he played between 1991 and 1992 in the Matáv Symphony Orchestra. Since 1992 he has been member of the Budapest Festival Orchestra.
