Barbara Kozelj

mezzo-soprano

The Slovenian opera singer holds a University Degree in Music Teaching from the Academy of Music Ljubljana (Slovenia) and obtained a Master of Music Opera degree in 2005 at the Royal conservatory in The Hague (The Netherlands). After graduation, she performed in increasingly important roles as a member of the Dutch Opera Studio, and perfected her art at various master courses. She won several accolades including the International Music Competition in Chemnitz (Germany), the lied prize at the International Singing Competition in Meran (Italy) and first prize at the Slovenian National Singing Competition. In addition to performing major mezzo roles, as a singer of oratories and melodies and a member of the Darius Ensemble, she is a popular concert hall artist. Kozelj’s upcoming performances will include singing the part of Orfeo in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice, and Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, as well as a debut in Budapest, New York and Abu Dhabi in the role of the Third Lady in Iván Fischer’s new Mozart production, The Magic Flute.
