Tune into Winter with Us!

We have a lot in store for you in the coming weeks and months. Instead of winter dreams, we offer season passes and invite you to our Advent concerts. Moreover, as well as purchasing tickets, you can now buy several BFO gifts at a discounted price. And, of course, there will be several concerts not to be missed.

Winter Afternoons, Winter Evenings

We have in store two new season passes for the coldest season of the year. The series called Winter Afternoons and Winter Evenings offer four programs each from early December to mid-February. The season passes include two orchestral concerts, a Baroque concert and a Concertino, and the BFO's ensemble will be joined by world-renowned artists such as conductor Andrés Orozco-Estrada, former music director of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra; pianist Javier Perianes, who was named Artist of the Year in 2019 by the International Classical Music Awards (ICMA); Nicolas Altstaedt, one of today's most sought-after cellists; conductor Louis Langrée, music director of the Mostly Mozart Festival in New York and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra; and pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, also a French-born artist. Come join us for the Advent season, tune into Christmas, greet the New Year and celebrate Carnival with the BFO’s concerts.

Join the BFO in the Advent season

We invite you to relax with music also in the last month of the year. On the second weekend of Advent, December 3 and4, the orchestra will be led by world-renowned Colombian-born conductor Andrés Orozco-Estrada at the Budapest Congress Center. Pianist Javier Perianes will join the BFO as the soloist for the program of romantic and radiant works by Weber, Grieg and Tchaikovsky. Just one week later, on December 10 and 11, compositions for chamber orchestra will take center stage at the Liszt Academy, with the ensemble led by János Pilz as concertmaster. In addition to Corelli’s Christmas Concerto, pieces by Haydn, C.P.E. Bach and Suk will help you tune into the holidays. BFO founding member violinist Tímea Iván is the evening’s soloist.

Advent market at the BFO’s rehearsal room

If you have no idea how to surprise your loved ones for Christmas, we can help you out. On December 17 and 18, the last weekend of Advent, in addition to the Cocoa Concert and Sunday Chamber Music, we also invite you to an Advent market from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Besides unique gifts, we provide a discount of 15% when purchasing 4 tickets for the Festival Orchestra's January and February concerts. On Saturday, children can enjoy the music and a mug of cocoa, while Sunday's intimate concert will feature Klughardt’s wind quintet and Schubert's piano trio promising a genuine festive atmosphere in the BFO's Selmeci Street rehearsal room.

Never be left without a little bit of the BFO!

Would you like to drink your morning coffee from the BFO’s polka-dot mug, or do you fancy a notebook decorated with an instrument, or maybe an umbrella? If you want to always carry with you a piece of the Festival Orchestra, we have good news for you. You can now buy the products of the BFO Shop, which also make great gifts, with a 25% discount. Choose from our discount offer until November 20. You are invited to return to our virtual gift shop later as well, to check out the new collection with lots of surprises for little ones. Also, a composer who has been very important in the life of the Festival Orchestra, will be brought to life on our everyday objects.
