BFO serenades the people of Budapest

Various chamber formations of the Budapest Festival Orchestra (BFO) will visit more than 200 residential buildings in Budapest in June to give free serenades, acting on their belief that music is a necessity even in pandemic times. Open your doors and windows and let live music into your homes! UPDATE: Registration has ended, unfortunately we cannot visit more buildings.

Musicians of the BFO will be performing in the closed courtyards of residential buildings and inside gardens between houses on Sunday and Monday evenings in June. The 10-15-minute free serenades can be enjoyed from windows, balconies and hanging corridors. To protect the health and safety of the residents, the mini concerts are not public and are only intended for the residential communities of the buildings.

Since audiences will need to wait a little to return to concert halls, the Budapest Festival Orchestra has pledged not to leave the inhabitants of Budapest without music and to present these small concert gifts in the meantime. “We would like as many of you as possible to listen to our music in your homes—all we ask for return is a smile and some applause”, says Iván Fischer, the BFO’s Music Director.

Registration has ended, unfortunately we cannot visit more buildings.

The concert series is produced with the contribution of Budapest 100 and the Hungarian Contemporary Architecture Centre among others.
