Born in Siena, she specialized at the Accademia Chigiana with Bergonzi and Kraus and at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in München.
She immediately started a brillant career appearing in the world’s most prestigeous venues: La Scala, Salzburg, Pesaro, Venice, Rome, Glyndebourne, Paris, Wien, Berlin, Naples, Madrid, etc.. conducted by such distinguished conductors as: Abbado, Biondi, Chailly, Chung, Conlon, Dantone, Davis, Fischer, Gatti, Gelmetti, Harding, Marcon, Mehta, Muti, Noseda, Santi, Spinosi, etc...
Her wide repertoire includes works by Rossini (Barbiere di Siviglia, Cenerentola, Viaggio a Reims, Comte Ory), Donizetti (Anna Bolena, Roberto Devereux, Maria Stuarda), Verdi (Nabucco, Falstaff ), Mozart (Così fan tutte, Idomeneo, Clemenza di Tito, Nozze di Figaro), Bellini (Norma, I Capuleti e i Montecchi, La Straniera), as well as several titles in the baroque repertoire and numerous appearences on the concert platform.
Among her recent and future engagements: Tebaldo e Isolina and Edoardo e Cristina at the Rossini in Wildbad Festival; Falstaff (Meg) at the Philharmonie in Paris, in Budapest, New York, Luzerne and Vicenza; L’Italiana in Algeri and Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Venice; Orfeo ed Euridice in Padova; La Cenerentola in Catania.
She has recorded: Maria Stuarda (Naxos and Dynamic); Amico Fritz (DG); Turco in Italia, Antigona (Decca); Anna Bolena, Il Crociato in Egitto, Pia de’ Tolomei (Dynamic); Il Flaminio, Salustia, Comte Ory, Falstaff (Arthaus Musik), Don Quichotte (Bongiovanni).
