Channel Classics release three Dvorák symphonies with BFO and Iván Fischer

The Channel Classics label is realasing in these days two Dvorák CDs of the Festival Orchestra and Iván Fischer: the recording of Symphony No.7. in D minor and the A Major ("American") Suite is new, the CD with Symphonies Nos. 8 in G Major and 9 in E minor ("From the New World") is a reedition in super-audio format of a Philips recording made in 2000.

Iván Fischer nails his very individual colours to the mast from the opening fanfares, with tiny rhetorical hesitations between the second and the third and third and fourth bars, and then a broadening as the full brass choir marches grimly towards the fanfares repeat. And if that initial description seems to signal an overstated reading, fear not: this Tchaik Four is anything but overstated.
