About the gala

The film competition, See What You Hear, has reached a critical juncture. On 26 February 2016 we are holding our grand gala which will be preceded by a film workshop, where contestants will have the opportunity to meet and talk to Károly Ujj Mészáros, director of the multiple award-winning Liza, a rókatündér (Liza, the Fox-Fairy). The topic of the unmoderated talk is the delicate connection between film and music, and the secrets of film making. Ujj Mészáros believes that making a film is the best – but why? Because it’s all just a game.

After the workshop, the audience will be able to listen for free to Shostakovich’s Hamlet suite, performed by the Budapest Festival Orchestra and conducted by Gábor Takács-Nagy. They will also get the chance to see the best of the entrants to the short film competitions. Those who attend will have a special role, too, since they will get to decide, together with our musicians, which of the teams will receive the Audience Award.

Admission is free, but pre-registration is required. You can apply by sending an email to adrienn.balogh@bfz.hu.
