The Festival Orchestra’s Baroque Ensemble will be giving several concerts throughout the season; a real luminary of early music will visit twice, Japanese-Bavarian violinist Midori Seiler will be performing one Italian and one German concert; while Hervé Niquet will join our musicians as artistic director and concert master for a performance of French baroque music. As usual, the Baroque melodies will come to life on period instruments.
Midori Seiler, the Japanese-Bavarian exotic beauty is celebrated worldwide both as a soloist and concertmaster of early music concerts. In the 2016-17 season the audience will meet her twice. On 23 October, she will give a taste of
the Italian Late Baroque’s (Vivaldi, Scarlatti, Platti) most beautiful melodies with the BFO’s Baroque Ensemble, and on 2 and 3 June she will be back with compilation of German Baroque masters, Bach, Telemann and Handel’s works.
Hervé Niquet, the internationally renowned specialist of early music will introduce the audience to the world of French baroque music, a real rarity in Hungary during the Bridging Europe Festival. You’ll be able to hear Campra’s, Rameau’s and Rebel’s pieces where the carnival atmosphere and irresistible humor meet such serious topics as the creation of the world.
