This South Korean soprano, who studied voice in Seoul, Berlin, Leipzig and Basel, debuted in Monteverdi’s Orfeo at the Innsbruck Festival for Early Music. Since then, she has been a sought-after interpreter of Baroque and modern music alike in Europe’s most prestigious musical centres. Highlights from her Baroque roles include Silvia (Haydn’s L’isola disabitata), La Bellezza (Händel’s Il Trionfo del tempo e del disinganno), Almirena (Händel’s Rinaldo), la Musica (Monteverdi’s Orfeo), Semele (Händel’s Semele) and Cleofide (Hasse’s Cleofide). She has also interpreted a number of contemporary works such as Pierre Boulez’ Pli selon Pli, Torsten Rasch’s Le Serpent Rouge, György Ligeti’s Mysteries of the Macabre, Matthias Pintscher’s With Lilies White and Unsuk Chin’s Akrostichon-Wortspiel.
