Paavo Järvi, conductor

October 2015 saw Paavo Järvi conduct his first concerts as Chief Conductor of the NHK Symphony Orchestra, returning to Tokyo in December 2015 for their annual Beethoven Symphony No.9 concerts celebrating the New Year. 2015/16 also marked Järvi’s final season as Music Director of Orchestre de Paris with an autumn tour which took them to Budapest, Vienna, Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt and Brussels and a new Erato recording of symphonic works by Rachmaninov.

Artistic Director of The Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen since 2004, Paavo Järvi and the orchestra performed the complete Brahms Symphony Cycle at Vienna’s Konzerthaus in December 2015, as well as concerts featuring both Brahms and Beethoven on tour in Amsterdam, Paris, Hamburg, Baden-Baden and Berlin. Future engagements see the continuation of Paavo Järvi’s return visits to Wiener Symphoniker, Münchner Philharmoniker, Dresden Staatskapelle, Berliner Philharmoniker and Berlin Staatskapelle.

As a leading arts ambassador for his country, Paavo Järvi was awarded the Order of the White Star by the President of Estonia for his outstanding contribution to Estonian Culture in 2013 and he has also been appointed Commandeur de L’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture, for his contribution to music in France.
