Michael Nejtek

Nejtek Michal was born in 1977 in Litoměřice. First, he studied the piano. After completing his studies at the Teplice Conservatory, he continued his studies in composition in Prague. Ha composes symphonic and chamber music, and is involved in theatre projects. His compositions are performed in his home country and an increasing number of European countries. He was commissioned to compose for the Warsaw Autumn Festival, the New Music Ensemble, Katowice, the Donaueschingen Festival (Donaueschinger Musiktage). He is at home in several genres and styles, likes jazz as well as classical music. He used to teach at the Teplice Conservatory.  At present he teaches the history of jazz at the Jaroslav Ježek College. Occasionally he writes reviews for the journal titled Harmonie. He considers composing and playing music as an adventure in the jungle, which amuses him. His compositions are frequently performed at contemporary music festivals.
