Marie McLaughlin

She performs regularly for companies including Vienna State Opera, The Royal Opera, and Metropolitan Opera, New York. Her repertory has included Susanna, Zerlina, Ilia, Donna Elvira, Despina, Dorabella, Gilda, Micaëla, Violetta, Marzelline, Musetta, Hanna Glawari and Jenny (Mahagonny). In concert she has sung for Barenboim, Bernstein, Haitink and Sinopoli. Recordings include Zerlina with Marriner, Despina with Levine, Dorabella with Mackerras, Susanna with Mehta, Marcellina with Jacobs and Lieder by Schubert and Strauss. Recent engagements have included La Ciesca (Royal Opera), Marcellina (Salzburg Festival, La Scala, Milan, Paris Opéra, Barcelona, Metropolitan Opera, Budapest, Royal Opera and Berlin Staatsoper), Anna in The Seven Deadly Sins (WNO), Madame Larina (Glyndebourne, Lille and Turin), Despina ( Aix en Provence, Vienna Theater an de Wien with Chereau and Scottish Opera), Lillian Disney in The Perfect American and Mrs Grose (Teatro Real, Madrid) and Mother Needham in the world premiere of Iain Bell’s The Harlot’s Progress (Theater an der Wien) and Sorceress Dido and Aeneas (Teatro Real Madrid).
Recent engagements have also included Marcellina Figaro at Covent Garden and the Ravinia Festival with Conlon, Lilian Disney The Perfect American (Brisbane Festival), Mrs Grose The Turn of the Screw Berlin Staatsoper with Claus Guth and Ivor Bolton in November 2014.  Future plans include Marcellina Figaro at the 2015 Edinburgh Festival with Fischer and for the Liceu, Barcelona, La Ciesca Gianni Schicchi Covent Garden in 2016 with Pappano and Marcellina Figaro with
Scottish Opera directed by Sir Thomas Allen.
