Jaap van Zweden

Amsterdam-born Jaap van Zweden is Music Director of the Dallas Symphony and Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestras, and one of today’s most sought-after conductors, and was named as the recipient of Musical America’s Conductor of the Year Award 2012. Following positions at a number of Dutch orchestras, including Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Netherlands Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and Radio Chamber Orchestras from 2005-2011, he has appeared as guest conductor with many leading orchestras across the globe, including the Chicago Symphony, New York Philharmonic, Cleveland and Philadelphia Orchestras, the Berlin, Vienna, London, Rotterdam and Munich Philharmonics, Tonhalle-Orchester Zurich, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, the Boston, San Francisco and London Symphonies, Orchestre National de France, and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. In 1997 van Zweden and his wife Aaltje established the Papageno Foundation, providing music therapy to support families with children with autism.
