Balázs was born in Budapest in 1975. He began studying piano at the age of five and the violin at eight. In 1988, he was admitted to the Special School for Young Talents at Budapest’s Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. He received his diploma in 1999, having studied under Natasa Sós. Between 1996 and 2007 he was the leader of the Danubia Symphony Orchestra, and of the Pannon Philharmonic Orchestra from 2007 to 2012. His playing features in many recordings, but he is also strongly taken by improvisation and jazz. Since 2000 he has appeared on several BMC recordings. He received the Artisjus prize in 2008 and has composed music to four feature-length movies. He has been a part of Budapest Festival Orchestra concerts since 2012, and became a member of the Eckhardt String Quartet in 2013.
