Alejandro Marco-Buhrmester is one of the most well-known bass baritones of his generation. He debuted in 2001 at the Bayreuth Festspiele in the role of Konrad Nachtigall in “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg” – and has since been invited back every year for bigger roles. Aside from major Wagner roles he regularly performs works from Italian and French repertoires, appearing in the Berlin State Opera as Germont from La traviata, as Figaro from The Barber of Seville, as Count di Luna from Il trovatore, as Nabucco and as the Marquis of Posa. Alongside his opera work he is also active in oratorio and as a vocalist. He has worked together with famous conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Pierre Boulez, Semion Bychkov, Paolo Carignani, Valery Gergiev, Eliahu Inbal, Fabio Luisi, Kirill Petrenko, Esa-Pekka Salonen, Stefan Soltesz and Christian Thielemann.
